Purple Dot Program
A simple sign that has the power to save many lives.
The Purple dot program was created in order to help individuals who might be struggling with domestic violence in a secure setting.
The Purple Dot Program consists of a kit that includes a sign (and round purple stickers depending on scenario) which would be placed in a restroom. This program can be implemented in a variety of places.
When an individual does not want to discuss an issue in front of their caregiver or someone with them at the time, they can simply take a purple sticker or in the bathroom and stick it to the bottom of their semen/urine collection cup or even their paperwork, allowing them to alert their health care provider that they do not feel safe.
Other facilities: When an individual needs help they can simply rip a chit off of the poster and call when needed.
What is the Purple Dot Program?
The Purple Dot Sign
The Purple Dot Sign will be a laminated sign hung up in a healthcare facility’s restroom. The patients would be able to read the sign and follow the instructions to alert their health care provider. This will allow the health care providers to speak with their patients and take the necessary steps to keep them safe.
What’s In the Kit?
The Purple Dot Stickers (Optional)
The Purple Dot Stickers will be hung up next to the Purple Dot Sign and will be used by the patients according to the instructions provided on the sign. These stickers can be stuck to a urinary/semen collection cup, paperwork, or even just handed to the healthcare provider to alert them on the issue.
The Letter/Instructions
The Purple Envelope will be filled with a heartfelt letter as well as instructions on how to implement the program in an efficient and accurate manner.
